iOS 6.1 show no service randomly since beta1

quick one: should i enable data roaming? would this help at all?

Actually, I've just learned that by a maddening coincidence, AT&T is actually out today in my area. So my problems are probably not iOS 6-related (at least not on my phone). Very strange.

Just checked the LTE coverage from our service provider and my home is just outside the coverage area. *&#9+#*.. So I would still get 3G reception right and when there is LTE reception ….well you know

There's no harm in enabling data roaming unless you are close to a US border, but it probably won't help either.

You should get 3G anywhere there is no LTE coverage. However, AT&T is canibalizing their 3G sites to convert them to LTE, so if you are unfortunate enough to have a non-LTE phone your 3G coverage will diminish over time. Slowly, fortunately.

I'm not sure where you got that idea, but it's not correct. AT&T IS canibalizing their EDGE (2G) network. The 3G network is remaining intact, and is, in fact, expanding to replace the 2G network that's being shut down.

Killing 3G coverage would destroy AT&T, especially since the iPhone 5 does NOT do voice over LTE. When on a voice call, it drops to 3G.

Whoever wrote the piece you read was probably just slightly misinformed.

AT&T has been sending out notices to customers that they will need to update to 3G capable devices or lose service entirely as the rollout progresses.

I have the same issue. I have the iPhone 5, AT&T 64 gig. I was on 6.0.2 and upgraded OTA last night. Now I have little to no LTE service. Could not use my phone at the office. I'm on wifi at home now. I have no idea what to do. My phone was fine before this stupid update!!

Just to be totally correct, if you are in an area with HSPA+ it drops to 4G in the display when on a voice call.

i just updated to 6.1 and had the same problem. i fixed it by turning 3g off and data off. then put it into airplane mode, then turned it all back on. fixed.

I'm about to try that after I finish an iTunes back up.

It's all just a bit confusing. Between what I've read here, on Twitter, and other forums, I'm lost. I'm backing up my phone in iTunes just in case I jack something up. I'm going to try backing up and restoring. I assume that means to back up, wipe the phone, and restore from back up.. *sighs*

Ok I tried those steps and that did not help. Oh my...
