Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

My son's iPhone 4 is locked because of too many password attempts.

Brand new, not synced with iTunes yet. When I connect to iTunes, get a message saying "iTunes could not connect to the iPod touch because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPod before it can be used with iTunes." This, of course, is not possible, since the thing is locked!

Tried to put in recovery mode (turn off, hold Home button, reconnect to computer, then iTunes) and doesn't appear in iTunes. Tried to put into DFU mode, still doesn't appear. Tried to connect to "Find My iPhone," but it cannot locate the device--again since it is not connected to anything! HELP!

iPod touch, iOS 5.0.1

A brand new iPhone will not be password protected. Your message reads as if you have an illicitly obtained handset. Is that remotely possible? Regardless, since it's brand new, you shoul return it to the place of purchase for evaluation. Too, your question involves an iPhone, and you posted in the "iPod" forum.

Too, you should read the entire article:
