iTunes does not recognize iPod after son tried too many password attempts...

My son forgot his password and tried too many times. We have tried to testore, with iTunes, and as a new iPod. iTunes does not recognize it. Comes up"iTunes could not connect to this iPod. An unknown error occured. (0xE80000A) HELP!

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
