How to format IoSafe rugged portable hard drive for my macbook pro
Has anyone used an IoSafe Rugged Portable HD with MacBook Pro? I am having trouble with the formatting.
OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
What format is this external drive currently in??

Currently (as came in the box) formatted NTFS
Open Disk Utility>Erase and drag the HDD icon to the Name Field. In Format, select Mac OS extended (Journaled) and click on the Erase button.
It is ready to go.

Your drive is formated for windows. This will work for many things on your mac, but not everything. For example, you can not move an iPhoto Library to an external drive that is formated for windows, but you can if it is formatted as Mac OS extended journaled. Also, time machine will not back up to a drive that is formatted for windows either.
