Ibook g3 won't connect to my my router

My ibook G3 will recognize my verizon fios router but will not establish a connection with it after the wep has been typed in , a message pops up saying "there was an error joining the airport network" please help

iBook, Mac OS X (10.3.x)

The G3 Airport cards will only connect to 802.11b base stations. An Airport Extreme card is needed for many newer base stationswhich are 802.11g/n. Unfortunately you can't fit the Exterme card in place of the original. I use an external adapter with my iBook G3 in order to connect through the Airport Extreme base station. See link below. You need OS X 10.4 or better.
