Canon wireless printer ink levels utility

This is my first post so be kind...

I've successfully set up a Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer to operate wirelessly, but the ink levels utility works only when the printer is connected by usb. Canon Support say it's due to Air Port limitations probably allowing one-way traffic only. Does anyone out there know if this is correct and is there a fix?

Thanks

Thanks edex67. The printer is wireless and all functions work wirelessly apart from the ink level utility which will only work if I use usb. I'm using the built-in Air Port on both an iMac & a MacBook Pro & get the same result. The utility works ok on my Windows laptop - it's just the Macs, suggesting it's not my Router (Netgear N600) and that the issue is with Apple.

Have you thought about the possibility that Canon has not written the software to allow this feature on the O SX operating system?

If I were the Canon support person, I would claim that Apple does not support the feature.

If I were an an Apple support person, I would claim that Canon has not yet provided the software updates for newer OS X systems.

The truth is likely somewhere between.

I made the mistake of buying a Canon All-in-One device a few years ago. It would not even support scanning on the OS X system. After talking to several support folks at Canon, who blamed Apple, they finally admitted that Canon had not written the software for OS X.....yet the box and specifications claimed "Compatible with Windows and Mac OS X"

Oh, you have a Netgear router? In this case this forum can't help you. Canon probably believe you have an Apple AirPort router. Also, generally Canon software is poor with Macs (as they only care about Windows and tech support blames Apple for everything, another reason I never buy Canon) so this may be the problem. Either way, this forum is for AirPort routers:
