Rare iPhone?

Hi,

I have an iPhone 4, however the model number on the back says A1387, which I believe is synonymous with the iPhone 4S. I bought this from the Apple store in Hong Kong (where we lived at the time), so it's all official and everything.

I Have now upgraded to an iPhone 5, and wanted to sell this iPhone, but I wondered if this mystery model number meant I could get any more money for it/meant it was a rare version?

I did a bit of googling on it and couldn't find anyone in the same situation, and every website I've checked says it's only for the iPhone 4S, so I was slightly confused.

Yup, shows as a 4S.

You could try inputting the serial number at the site below. Or, check the model number form within Settings - General - About.

I doubt that the descrepancy you see would result in that phone being worth any more than a regular phone. But I have seen people who are tech collectors looking for an original iPhone that is running the original version of the iPhone operating system as it was called then. They would pay a premium for such a phone.
