I've been having problems with the Mail application freezing once I open it. I was told to trash the library item "com.apple.mail.plist". Once I did that I had to reset my account, which I did. Now mail doesn't freeze, but I can only receive mail not send it. It says it cannot use that server, but it is the correct one. Is there a way to reinstall Mail? Please help. I'm using an Imac 2.16 Ghz Intel Core Duo with system 10.6.8.

Hope you have your install discs as you will need them, if you do no problems. If not you will have to call Aple to get replacements, as the discs are machine build depedent.
I do have the original install disks. Does that mean I have to reinstall everything or just the Mail application? Does that clear everything off of my hard disk?
As with anything like this always do a back up. You should be able to do a custom install and select just Mail, and install it. ATB
