Charge it however long you like. There are no "rules" to charging an iPhone in that respect - it will not damage the battery.
You don't need to charge it unless you want to or it needs it. You can and should charge as often and as long as possible... deep discharges are hard on lithium batteries. Normal mobile use will result in the one charge cycle/month that Apple recommends.
You can't overcharge it, if that's what you're worried. At 100%, the battery will disconnect from the charger and no damage will occur. And you don't have to drain it completely dead before recharging again.
