Can't extract non-copyright VOB files from DVD-R on my MacBook Pro

I'm using the MBP Retina (10.8.2) with a SuperDrive. I am able to see and extract VOB files from other non-copyright DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs, but these ones, which I made myself on a Panasonic DMR-ES40V VHS-to-DVD Recorder, are not even showing up in Finder. That is, I can't even see the VIDEO_TS folder when I click on the disc under Devices. I should mention that these discs do play just fine on my MBP's DVD Player application. Their file structures are just invisible. Any suggestions on how to get at those VOBs.

I'm seeing the same thing on my new iMac, arfive. My guitar instructor burns a video at the end of each lesson, and I take it home to review what we covered.

I can play the video just fine, as it starts up DVD Player automatically when I insert the disk. But if I quit DVD Player and double click on the disk icon on my desktop, it shows 0 items in it.

I don't know if this is caused by the disk not being finalized or not.

I should also mention that I made a copy of the DVD using Toast, and it acts exactly the same as the original disk.

You're right...the question was posted in the wrong forum. But...Hatter's post didn't explain that...

But, actually, it's more of a Mountain Lion question anyway. The OP's computer is a MacBook Pro, while mine is an iMac. The problem, though, appears to be an OS issue (or shortcoming...not sure which yet).

But thanks for correcting us, mooblie.
