Problem "No sim card installed" after updating IOS6.1
I've update my iPhone 4 to the IOS6.1 and now the iPhone shows that I have no sim card installed. Is it a problem of IOS 6.1? How can I solve this ?
Thanks

Nope not a problem with IOS 6.1.
Where exactly did you buy your phone?
Have you contacted your phone carrier and see if you can get another sim?
I bought my iPhone in France but thank you, I will contact my phone carrier in order to get another sim.
Thank you
Same thing just happened to me! Phone was working fine prior to update but immediately following restart, I get message to say no sim card installed. Cant just be coincident!
This happened to me as well. I just updated my phone and it was working fine before the upgrade now I can't get anything. Apple please help.
Fixed! I talked to Apple who said SIM card issues are responsibility of Carrier (Im with Telstra). Got onto Telstra chat online who looked into problem. Everything working on their end, so got a specialist who said I would have to go to a Telstra Shop to have SIM tested. Within 5 minutes of disconnecting, SIM was working again!!!!! During the process, I switched on/off a number of times and also removed SIM several times. Try again in 5-10 minutes. Good luck.
you might try putting some celophane tape on the back of the sim card. Just one strip and trim it to match the outline of the card. sometimes the little spring in the sim card holder doesn't push quite hard enough for the sim card to make contact. Putting a strip of tape on the back of the card often times gives it just enough extra thickness to get it to connect with the contacts inside the phone. This has worked for me in the past.
In fact I generally do this with all my sim cards for just this reason.
I just got off the phone with AT&T and they had me remove the SIM card with the phone turned on and put it back in and it reset itself.
Thank you! Your solution worked for me -- I have Sprint and ever since last night when I updated to iOS 6.1, I've had "No SIM" on my phone. I took out the SIM card with the phone on, re-inserted, and Voila! It's fixed!
Your solution does not work for me for iPad 2 3G
I removed, inserted, restart ... No way.
Then I restored always "sim card not inserted".
I rang Apple, they did not find the solution.
The problem is that the 6.1 grid sim card.
You just go charcher another.
It seems hard to believe but this is the reality.
I just tested with my sim 4S and then magically my iPad recognizes it.
I had the problem for the last 2 upgrades as well. Not to worry, it is easily resolved: put the sim in another phone (any will do, I use my GF's Nokia), boot it and unlock the sim. No put it back in the iPhone and it will work.
removing SIM several times worked for me. Thanks to all, except Apple who seldom seem to cover all the angles in similar situations. I always end up searching for and usually getting an answer in this community.
Thanks again
This happened to me as well. I just updated my phone and now show no slim card install, pls help
It has happened to me sevral times (every month or two at randome intervals), although not at the same moment of the update. I usually don't notice until someone contacts me by another means to ask why my phone is off.
I turn off the phone, pull out the SIM, put it back, and turn on the phone. Annoying, but it works.
Thanks richardlw, seriously apple must fix this problem😠.
