How do I remove linkedin contacts from Contacts?

I have tried uninstalling Linkedin, but still have Linkedin Contacts in my iPhone Contacts. How can I remove them from my iPhone Contacts?

My 2000+ LinkedIn contacts were synced with my iCloud contacts. What I noticed was that all the LinkedIn contacts in there had the URL of each persons profile page. So, I went to iCloud.com (web apps), went under the contacts section and searched by the first part of this string (e.g. http://linkedin), so these contacts were all filtered. A quick Control+A and then selecting "Delete" worked - this removed them all from my iCloud contacts. However, they were still on my phone OR I did not allow enough time for the updates to sync. So, I then went into the iPhones settings under the Mail, Contacts, Calendars > selected the iCloud account and then toggled the "Contacts" switch off. It asked if I wanted to delete iCloud contacts from phone and I said yes. I then simply turned the toggle back on and it re-syned my iCloud contacts with all of the LinkedIn contacts gone.

I had the same problem. On my mac, under Internet accounts, Linkedin, the checkbox for syncing Linkedin Contacts was checked. So I ended up with some 1000 additional contacts. The problem is that Icloud seems to take these contacts and store them as well. When you uncheck the "Linkedin contacts checkbox" on the mac, the option is shown to remove the contacts, but the contacts that have already been synced to Icloud remain. Really annoying.

What I did is the following:

  1. Go to System preferences, internet accounts and re-check the linkedin contacts sync
  2. Open contacts app. Select Your linkedin account on the left. This will show only your linkedin contacts.
  3. Select the first contact, and shift select the last contact in the list (select all)
  4. Select your icloud account. The previously selected contacts (linkedin that are also in icloud) are still selected.
  5. Select the Edit menu, and "Create new group from selection. Give the group a name. This puts all the icloud linkedin contacts in a new group. Close contacts.
  6. Go back to system prefs and un-check the linkedin contacts sync.
  7. Open contacts again. The linkedin account is gone, but the contacts (in icloud) are still there. Select the new group you created. Go through the list to find the contacts you want to keep in Icloud. You can do this by selecting the contact, and pressing backspace, and "Remove from Group"
  8. When you are left with the list that you want to get rid of, select all the contacts in the new group, press backspace, and chose delete. Be careful that you really want to get rid of all of them! They are of course still in linkedin.
  9. Delete the group through the edit menu.

It takes a bit of time, but for me this was faster and safer than manually deleting every single item (over a 1000)

Perhaps it helps...

I had a similar problem; exchange contacts and linkedin contacts showing up on my iphone, but I have never installed the linkedin app.

**I removed the linkedin contacts from my iphone by removing the linkedin "outlook social connector".**

http://www.linkedin.com/static?key=microsoft_outlook

It seems the outlook connector was downloading contact details from linkedin (and probably uploading all sorts of other data from my outlook to linkedin - I got linkedin recommendations to connect with people who had only ever sent me one email in the past), matching them to existing contacts in my exchange account, which was then synching with my iphone.

Seconds after I removed the connector, I opened the contacts app on the iphone, tapped "Groups" and linkedin was gone!

Oh yes there is! I'm using the Basic version, which is free of charge. If you click on the Upgrade button when it's shown, Linkedin will offer you 3 versions: Business, Business Plus and Executive. Those accounts are used by headhunters and similar.

Again, where did you get the Download Connections option? I'm getting in to Linkedin thru Chrome or Safari under IOS

Gracias!

Again, which version of the app do you have installed on your iPhone - and why are you accessing Linkedln with Safari or a browser when there is an app?

I did not pay for the app and I see no upgrade option with the current free version of the app I'm using.

Once again,

Go to Settings with the Linkedln app.

Download Connections > turn Download Connections off for Contacts.

Add Calendar > turn Add Your Calendar off.

Hi

It is the most annoying especially when you're trying to save space on your device.

what helped me get rid of all LinkedIn contacts from my phone was to restrict LinkedIn from accessing my contacts list by going to phone settings- to LinkedIn the 'ALLOW LINKEDIN TO ACCESS" page and making sure contact was OFF. I then turned the phone off and back on and all LinkedIn contacts went away
