my app store app won't update

So you get the update notification alert, but are not able to perform the update? Have you done the basics of restart/reset?

Double tap the home button, you'll see a dock at the bottom appear, scroll and find the "App Store" press and hold on the icon until you see the red minus sign, tap the minus sign to close the app and try it again.

i have almost the same problem .... the app for appstore doesn't show new updates available ( the red circle in the corner does not show)

My app store shows updates needed but wont actually do the updates? The apps show 'waiting' and are greyed out, but nothing ever completes. Help!

what do you mean the home button?

Mine shows the updates available but when I click update all the icon does the little circle thing then just goes back yo Update. iPad 2 but my iPhone 5C works fine. Sooooo frustrating when my games have bugs and can't get the updates to fix them!!!
