iPod forever stuck in recovery loop, cannot restore

I plugged my ipod 5th generation, only about one month old (nothing done to it), into iTunes which said to update the software. It suddenly switched to restore mode (aka DFU) by itself, and iTunes says it has detected an iPod in recovery mode. I click restore, then restore and update, so ITunes downloads the new software. at the end nothing happens. I have downloaded the software at least 10 times, rebooted my computer rebooted iTunes disconnected devices, everything. My iTunes is up to date and so is my mac, done everything suggested in other discussions but my iPod stuck in a recovery loop. I dont live in the US so I dont have access to the Genius Bar, I'm hoping someone has a clue how to help me?

thanks

Maybe:

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)

Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.

Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
