I notice that my ical hangs on updating. I have to quit and reopen.  I am using the latest software in Mountain Lion.

GH, Although I cannot guarantee that those steps will not affect synced, or subscribed calendars, you should always be able to re-sync, or re-subscribe. If you run into an unexpected problem, you can always return the plist file to the original location.

    1. Go to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder and move any any files with "Cache" listed in the name field to your Desktop. To find the correct Library folder, go to the Finder menu and select "Go," while holding the "Go" menu depress the "option" key to reveal the correct Library folder.

     

    2. Next go to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder and move the com.apple.iCal.plist file to the Desktop. To find the correct Library folder, go to the Finder menu and select "Go," while holding the "Go" menu depress the "option" key to reveal the correct Library folder.

     

    3. Log out/in or restart, and open Calendar.

    Thanks. If I do so, will I lose my synced calendars, those with my wife's computer and subscribed calendars?

    Interestingly enough, Ferd when I stopped iCal from opening as a login item, the problem no longer exists.
