Ipad stopped working after latest iOS update

iPad downloaded latest software update via wifi last night. However it stopped working and doesnt boot up. The screen shows an iTunes symbol and the connector. I connect it to iTunes and it says a restore is required. Ive remembered to turn off my firewalls before hitting restire where it then seeks to download the software update. It goes as far as downloading and then a further error message is received. Ive tried it multiple times now and getting mightly frustrated. I am at a loss to know what to do. Does anyone have any tips. Ive followed all the Apple suggestions to no avail. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Same thing happened to me. I have an appt at my local Apple store tomorrow, and hopefully will be able to walk away with an answer and a working Ipad. Is anyone else having this issue? I must have tried restoring at least a couple dozen times, just in the hope that it would some how fix itself, even tried from my wife's macbook instead to make sure there wasnt somehow a corrupt file on my own macbook pro. Its only been down for a day now, but its amazing how much I was relying on my ipad. PS, mine is also an iPad 2 (64gb) if it makes a difference.

I saw this on another post from another iPad 2 user.

"Apple store confirmed today that many iPad 2 users downloading IOS 6.1 file will get a corrupt file that will NOT be able to be restored until Apple fixes files. You must keep trying to restore your IPad. Eventually Apple will have a file that is not corrupted. Until then your iPad will not work."

 Cheers, Tom 😉

My ipad also stopped working post downloading the update. I took it to the Apple store and they claimed my connector got wet , not true. They want me to pay to replace my relatively new ipad and pAy ALMOST $300. It was on wifi at the time of the update fiasco, hence what does a connector have to do with it? Short of a class action what should / can I do ?
