iOS 6.1 Updating Crashing (Adobe Built) Newsstand Apps

Is there a solution now to fix this problem?

Same problem in New Zealand with Vanity Fair subscription. Newsstand crashes when wifi turned off or in Airplane mode. Funny though the app will work on telecom 3G even though I have no credit ?

EVO and flight international crash in the absence of internet connection. ie wifi in my case.

Well it looks like Newsweek steped up to the plate and created a fix for its readers.

I'm having the same problem here in Brazil. I have Russh Magazine and Pilerats Magazine on Newsstand and both of them are updated but they crash while starting when I'm not connected to a network. I also have Tpm and Trip Magazines, they're outside Newsstand, they're magazine APPS, and they work perfectly without wi-fi. So, I guess the problem is with Newsstand.

I too have this issue, specifically the New Yorker.

Nothing work in Newsstand offline. Get error (newNullResponse) when clicking on Store as well.

Using several magazines, but favorite is Gold Deigest on the way to work, but hey it just crashes.

APPLE - please provide a fix on priority ASAP.

I'm the one who posted this on Mac Rumors. I contacted Conde Nast and recived no reply. Fast Company updated their app a couple of days later but I have no idea how long Wired, GQ etc will take.

I also sent crash logs to Apple but again I haven't heard anything back. iOS 6.1.1 has just been seeded - here's hoping it comes out soon, fix in hand.

First updates to the apps were just posted by a couple of the Conde Nast magazines. Recognized in the update description as being to fix an iOS bug. Several others still needed including The New Yorker.

Yes, it was a bummer to encounter the Newsstand malfunction in iOS 6.1 (I believe). Called Apple who feigned ignorance of the enormity of the problem, to the pont of saying - "not many people use Newsstand."

HELLO I have spent hundreds on my digital subscriptions for their offline portability of back and currect issues and yet came across Apple's arrogance. Fixing this should be their highest priority, and not the attitude I got which was "you have to wait for the next OS update - whenever."

Does anyone know if Paris Match will be addressed with the Adobe fix, as many U.S. publications seem will be?

Have same problem. But have temporarily solved problem by using Next Issue app. New Yorker opens OK there, even offline. The New York format is identical there. Guess the bug only affects "Newstand" apps.

Next Issue is free for 30 days. Hope the problem gets fixed before I have to pay up! 😊

I got a new iPad for my 40th birthday in January. As an American expat living in Australia, one of the main draws was to read American magazines on a mobile device while travelling.

Over the past few weeks I've subscribed to Sports Illustrated, GQ, Esquite, Vanity Fair, National Geographic, and looking to do the same for the New Republic, the New Yorker, and Conde Nast Traveler.

After I upgraded to 6.1, only SI, National Geographic, and The New Republic work now if I'm not connected to my home WiFi. So incredibly frustrated as it really defeats the purpose of spending all this money and I can't even access content that I've already paid for. Looks like all Conde Nast pubs plus whoever does Esquire.

When will this be fixed?

Just saw that Esquire had an update this morning to allegedly address the offline issue - let's see if it works, and whether the Conde Nast publications will have a fix soon.

The problem with The New Yorker is solved now. An update that fixes the bug was sent to us. I am now able to read the magazine when offlline.
