I know this feature became available in iTunes 11.01 but I do not see the feature available anyway. I can only manually input the numbers themselves. Is it only available for Mountain Lion users or new models? Because I have a mid-2010 15 in. MacBook Pro and has Lion.
Any Mac with a Facetime camera should work. Perhaps this will help:

Thank you for the information. But it seems that the use camera function is not seen anywhere where I clicked on redeem. It's weird that the use camera is not available.
What country are you in? I haven't seen anything from Apple to indicate that the feature is limited only to certain countries, but it's possible that it is.
I'm in the US.
Strange, then. I'd think it was because your MBP has an iSight camera, not a Facetime HD camera as the Early 2011 and later-model MBPs have, but my iMac also has the iSight camera and the redeem via camera feature works here. So I don't know why it wouldn't work for you.
