Why am I receiving my sons text messages

When I bought him an iPhone 4 I connected him to my

iCloud it messed up our contacts. I got his and he got all mine. So he shut his iCloud off. Then it was fine but I just did the new update to my phone and he did it to his. And now he recieved all my contacts and changed some of our shared contacts names. How do I stop receiving his text from his friends. He'll receive it and then ill receive one. I can see the whole conversation. Then I recieved a text from myself saying what I just sent him. Please help!

Did you sign his phone up on your iTunes account when you set it up or create a new one for his phone?

SIgn hs account out of iMessage on your phone. Easy.

It sounds like the two of you are sharing Apple ID's with iMessaging..
Go to settings>messages and see what all is listed under send & receive.

If that's your issue all you need to do is unlink his number,

to gabrielle --- i have an iphone 5. my sister opened icloud under my apple id and I started getting her imessages. we have removed icloud from her ipod and checked the settings as you said in your post but its still happening.... any other suggestions?

In your messages settings do you see any numbers or email addresses that are not yours?
