Best excuse for Javanese Gamelan in Garageband?

Hi folks,

What's the best approximation of a Javanese Gamelan available in Garageband? I know it has a supposed Gamelan instrument, but it doesn't sound like it's tuned to a Javanese scale- it sounds like Gamelan samples, but played in a normal chromatic scale, if I'm not mistaken. (I could, of course, be mistaken). I know that in Logic you can specify an alternate scale like Pelog, and that's what I use if I was just doing this at home..... but this is for a lab I'm teaching, and I have a roomful of computers with Garageband, not Logic. Any way to get the GB instrument to use a more authentic scale? Or is there a way to use Logic instruments in GB?

Thanks,

-mk

I once built myself my own Pelog scale by taking a sample of some instrument, creating the pitches of the Pelog scale (in an audio editor) according to information that I found in a book, and building an instrument by putting these new samples on the keys of GB's Musical Keyboard.

You can hear a result on my web page - sorry, it's in German, go to the paragraph titled "Skalen" and listen to the 3rd sound example:
