I pruchased 2 IPOD shuffles, the first was recognized by ITUNES but when connecting the second one, ITUNES did not recognize it. How can I fix this?

I purchased 2 IPOD shuffles, the first was recognized by ITUNES and I was able to download some songs to the device. However when trying to connect the second IPOD shuffle, ITUNES did not recognize it thus cannot download any songs form ITUNES. Why can't ITUNES recognize a second IPOD shuffle? Also how can I fix this problem?
