While downloading an ITunes upgrade, my Ipad froze. All I see is the Itunes logo and a picture of a USB cable. Everything is frozen. Tried resetting by holding down the wake button but I get no slider button. IPad is frozen.

Force your iPad into Recovery Mode

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.

3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.

4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.

Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

I have the same problem as the OP, and none of your suggestions are helpful. Like the OP, iPad is already in Recovery Mode. The device is completely unresponsive--there is no slider, the Home button does nothing. It can be turned off and on by holding the Start button, but it only turns the screen off and on; it is still always in Recovery mode. Upon connection to iTunes, the update and recovery file downloads, but is never installed correctly; instead, an error message comes up that says the file is corrupted.

Thank you for trying to help but you see, I get NOTHING when I hold down the sleep/wake button along with the on/off button. Nothing happens. The device is completely unresponsive. There is no slider and the home button does nothing. It can only be turned off and on. I tried connecting it to my laptop in hopes that ITunes would recognize it, but it does not.

Thank you for trying to help but you see, NOTHING works on my IPad. It is completely unresponsive. The sleep/wake button does not work. The only thing I can do with the IPad is turn it on and off. I see that someone else has the exact same problem I described. They are cdbavg400. See their entry. Thanks for your assistance but I'm still looking for a resolution to this problem.

I have tried this but nothing works. I try downloading the upgrade again but I eventually get an error message. As far as the IPad goes, the screen does not change. It continues to have the ITunes logo as well as a picture of a USB cord but nothing else works. It is completely unresponsive. Thank you, though, for trying. If you come up with anything else, please let me know.
