Q: text messages received on multiple phones

My husband downloaded the most recent update to his iPhone 4S and somehow reset the settings so that all of the incoming messages to my iPhone 4 are also being sent to his phone. I've looked everywhere and cannot find where to adjust the setting to stop this from happening. Can anyone help?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1

This is caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage on both phones.  To fix this you can do one of the following:

    1. On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.  (Note: you can continue to share the same ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores.)
    2. Or, on both phones, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(s) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".

You're welcome.  Also, if you're sharing the same ID for FaceTime, on one of the phones you'll want to go to Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.  Otherwise you'll end up getting each other's FaceTime calls.
