Sustain Not Working

I'm having an issue while trying to record with sustain using my midi keyboard in garageband. While recording it will sound like it's working correctly, but once I stop recording the notes are short. I have an M-Audio SP-2 pedal and a Casio CTK-2080 keyboard. I've also tried not using the pedal and turning on sustain in garageband. This works great if I'm just playing, but, again, does not work while recording.
