iOS 6.1 Mail App Bug?

I just updated my "iDevices" to iOS 6.1...But the thing is that the mail app doesn't load any more new emails anymore and what's worse, I can't send emails! However, other apps work just as fine as before. I tried resetting the mail app (turning it off on the multitasking tray and then opening it again) but it still doesn't work the way it's supposed to. Am I the only one who has this problem? 😟

Hi Angeal_Hewley03,

I updated to IOS 6.1 yesterday and have the same e-mail problem. Nothing new loads even though it shows 370 messages. Starts to load then closes immediately with no mail coming through.

Tried deleting my account and redoing it but no luck there. Checked all settings but nothing I can find. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening.

I have to periodically turn my iPhone 5 completely off then on again to get email to work. After a delay of a minute or two, an error message will appear, stating that the device cannot connect with my mail server (comcast.net). Updating to IOS 6.1 did not fix this problem. Since I rely on email for my work, this is not a good situation and may force me to shop for a new, non-Apple phone.

Hello!

I have the same problem with my mail app. I updated my iPhone 5 to 6.1 iOS. After it i receive mail ok, but i have a problem with sending email. It shows that email sending... And that's it. There is no problem on my iPad. I use gmail, with second verification and gmail on exchange. I tried to change smtp settings, delete and reload my iPhone. I can't fix it.

I just tried that and nothing... I already restored the phone once today and then reinstalled from a backup.

I also noticed that besides Settings>Mail,Contact,Calendars refusing to load so is Settings>Notes but he Notes app is working.

I am using Gmail and my own domains with Imap.. Can't get into the app and can't get into the settings, everything worked until I updated to 6.1.

Thanks for everybody who tried to help, but mine just got fixed last night and I dunno how. I just turned on the Wi-Fi again and I started receiving emails just like before. I tried sending an email and it worked normally. Thank God I didn't have to restore my devices or contact Apple support for this. I just hope this doesn't happen again on the next iOS updates.

I finally figured out that iOS6.1 wipped out my outgoing SMTP server port. It changed it from 2525 to 587, which only works with iMap accounts. I use POP3 and therefore my provider requires you use Port 2525. Once that was fixed my email starting working again.

As with most things Apple does, they make these changes and the user be damned. I find everytime I install an update on my iPhone something like this happens. Last time all my appointments lost their alert sound. I'm sure to those who only use Apple hardware and fall into line this never happens to them, but to those of use who work in a broader world, we can not always tow the line.

Hey BobM54, could you please explain how you corrected your port address? My mail app wouldn't start and it crashes also when I go settings>mail,contacts,calendar...so how can I access my email account parameters? I have an iPhone 4s, it seems I'm not the only one experiencing this bug but couldn't find a fix yet. Thanks very much for your help!
