How can you transfer PDF files onto the ipad 2 without having to email?

I don't want to use up too much data, but really need these for school. Any advise?

You should be able to add PDFs to the books section of your computer's iTunes library via File > Add To Library. You can then sync them to the iBooks app on your iPad by connecting the iPad to your computer and selecting it on the left-hand sidebar, and then using the Books tab on the right-hand side to select and sync them to the iPad.

Other PDF apps may also support the transfer of PDFs to them via the file sharing section.
