From Egypt here, same problem with my iPhone5, so is this a hardware or software issue?

I thought my iPhone5 is defected and I cannot replace it where I live, I always had my 3G toggle available, just when I turn it on, the signal bars disappear very fast (unusual) and the Edge icon re-appear, as if nothing happened, no internet, then it disappears and the 3G sign appears, and then also nothing, as soon as I start requesting anything from the internet (chrome or safari or whatever) the 3G sign disappear after like 30 seconds and nothing happens, sometimes airplane fix it, sometimes resetting the network settings fix it, sometimes resetting APN settings fix it temporarily and sometimes its never fixed!

This is unbelievable Apple & most of all Mr.TIM COOK! You clearly took Apple down the road to NOWHERE near competition.

Total Failure, Apple quality is NO WHERE near the old times.

Shame on you!

Upgrade to 6.1.2 did not change anything for me.

3G switch is not working stays on Edge. The only way to get 3G back is to select the carrier manually.

But once it switches back to Edge you have to start over and select once more the carrier manually.

The only solution is to give my iPhone5 and the one of my wife to the kids to play games on it and to buy two new smartphones Samsung galaxy SIII LTE. Then I will also be able to use the 4G LTE here in Belgium. There's only one LTE 4G network availble here and Apple is blocking the 4G LTE on it.

Not only Steve Jobs died but even Apple is passing away. Bye bye Apple RIP

Have you all guys sent the feedback to Apple here? http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Because Apple doesn't read this forum and the only chance for them to know that the problem is wide spread is to send the feedbacks.

I think anyone who already sent the feedback can make it once more as Apple doesn't react.

We really have absolutely the same problem being in different parts of the world and the problem started with iOS 6.1 update. So this is definitely a software problem that Apple has to solve.

All,

My iPhone 3GS has not operated now at all since this saga began (3 weeks +). NoService is all I see, top left. I have explored and expired all avenues of help and support and found a massive gap in communications from staff at the carrier (Vodafone UK) to Apple staff in-store. So, Infomation is key within these organisations to make good.

Having spoke to Apple staff a little further up the 'express' lane, it is apparent that the issue is not big enough (from a numbers point of view) to help everyone with a phone issue. (See the speech from Ed Norton to Tyler Durdan in movie Fight Club! " If X is less than the cost of a recall....." )

People with older phones like mine will probably have to do what we have always been forced to do with many "obsolete" tech products and upgrade when the evolution of software out-strips the hardwares ability to handle it. (suggested by Apple staff!! "buy an iPhone 5 for £530+ " !!!).

So, as many of you with 4,4s,5 problems, leaves nothing more than Apple AND the carriers to do test and release updates ASAP.

Maybe compensate the users who are unable to use their expensive devices due to this recent poor upgrade.?!!!

If I hear anything of value, I will post...

Today I tested te IOS 6.1.2 and can tell that my problem with 3G connection is solved(or this is my feeling using one day the new version). I moved around my city(Buenos Aires, Argentina) and didnt lost connection, when the iphone was to EDGE in few minutes returned to 3G automatically. Today is the first day that i dont need turn airplane mode on/off to use 3G connection in my phone. it`s ridiculous but my iphone is working good again. i hope that all problems can resolve in short time. i will write again if i see any change with my phone.

I have just tried to restore my iPhone as new with iTunes. I even downloaded the full iOS 6.1.2 restore file from Apple downloads and made an iphone restore. And nothing helps at all. The problem is still there. So don't waste your time trying to restore the iPhone anyhow.

Do we all have an officially unlocked handsets (model MD640LL/A) like I do OR it's not what we have in common? 🙂
