iOS6.1.4 with XXL Vodafone contract, data connection clearly not possible without wifi.

So outside the office (Germany, France, Australia) and home, just the phone works quite ok.

When change country, then I need to switch it off and on to get quickly a network (automatic take ages as weel as manual).

It's a company phone, I'm missing my old BB ... even my old GalaxyAce gave better 3G and data access.

Looking forward for a new OS that may correct these issues ...

I have the same problem in Brazil.

I bought iPhone 5 in Miami after be sure that is the same model sold in Brazil (A1428). 3G only works in regions in which the signal is really strong. I'm still using my old 3GS iPhone in the same carrier, and I'm able to compare the huge difference between both devices connectivity. It's really annoying!

After reading lots of posts and discussions, I've been trying everything. Now I'm sure that I have to turn off the automatic search of carrier and turn off the 3G data in order to have call signal (but no internet at all, since EDGE doesn't work in Brazil).

Hope that IOS 7 fixes it because iPhone without 3G is completely useless.

If anybody had news on this regard, I'll be glad to hear about it!

trollschoppen: It is your right to get a good product, if the product doesn't work as per your expectation, push it back to them and request for a change/replacement. Though my replacement unit is more or less a refurbish unit, but nonetheless it is still functioning properly now. At least my frustration over the matter is gone.

Lynette Goon: Restarting is the only resolution, but I don't think that is practical to do that over and over again. I used to restart/reset network setting each time I face this issue, It could costs me up to 7-8 times of reset/restart per day.

This works for me..

  1. Go to Settings -> Carrier and disable the 'Automatic' feature. Then wait a few seconds and select your carrier.
  2. Sometimes after choosing your network manually it will already have 3G again.
  3. Enable the "Airplane Mode"
  4. Disable the "Airplane Mode"
  5. By this time 3G should appear already.
  6. Go back and Change AUTOMATIC carrier
  7. 3G appear normally after network appears.
  8. Test reboot several times to make sure.

Hope it works for everyone else, I have 3 iPhone 5 here (all 3 updated to ios 6.1 one after another via itunes full restore not update only, apple please take note) on the same network but only 1 got this problem and the other 2 seems better than before.. Dont know what is happening.. ?!!

Dear Apple, Can u fix these following issues?

1. Unable to view only outgoing call minutes in usage statistics.

2. When receive an incoming call with locked screen, no option to reject the call unless press the power button twice.

3. Unable to get connect with 3G after loose the LTE signal.

4. Phone does not recognize the caller ID while receiving incoming calls, if we saved with any prefix numbers.

Hi friend,

You can try this out....it works...

1) Turn your carrier selection into manual mode, select your carrier

2) Turn on your airplane mode

3) Wait for 10-15 seconds

4) Turn off your airplane mode

5) Power off the phone

6) Power on your phone

then you will find your 3G network is working perfectly.

But you need to maintain the network selection into manual mode first until apple solve this solutions upon next IOS software update.

Same here in PORTUGAL. I have an iphone 5 for just 6 months and it's allways ok, until a month ago. Lost 3G at home, were i have max 3G signal, and my old iphone 4 still works fine on 6.1.4, allways 3G. Changed nano sim for 3 times, changed iphone 5, they give me a new one, made all resets that can be done, etc, etc......still the same, lost signal very often, drop calls and the battery drain's very fast. I think the only solution is to leave APPLE, and get a better phone, or maybe IOS 7 will solve it, i hope so. IPHONE 5 BLACK 32GB BASEBAND FREE. It's a shame for a 800€ phone.
