    Hey guys . From what i know , if you are using on a 3G card not an LTE one , the connection will be worse as the frequency doesn't tally with the iphone preferred frequency . It might not be the phone it may be your service provider connection tho

    i got problem like this by the way didnt have it with 6.0.2 or 6.1 as i remember:

    almost everytime, after night, i cant connect to cellular data network, to get it working i need to restart iphone, turn on/off airplane to get back my cellular data. In this picture you can see that i have turned on cellular data but there isnt any 3G or E icon at notification bar and also no connection



    I have iphone 5, latest 6.1.3 ios. Noticed this issue on 6.1.2, 6.1.3.

    Wondering is it fault of my carrier or apple software?

    Hi! I had the same problem.

    I resolved this issue when updated to 6.1.2 and my carrier updated the carrier software.

    I'm sure that is not a hardware problem and it's a software problem because the iPhone worked fine and started with the problem when i updated to 6.1.1 and i resolved this with a software update.

    I am using maxis in Penang Malaysia! I call the apple care hotline they told me is a hardware issue so I need to contact the local service provider to do the replacement!

    I am from Penang too. I got sick by the service given by Maxis and I called Apple Care Hotline. They asked me to call 04-6451591 Apple Service Centre in Penang for inspection and replacement. I called 04-6451591 but was told they only support iPhone purchased from Apple Store, I was asked to go back to Maxis. :-S


    So they are kicking me like a ball from one to another. I am really upset with all these people, perhaps Apple is forcing us to switch to other Android smartphones....


    Please let me know if you manage to get your replacement or perhaps we should go together....

    So did u talk to maxis? What did they say?  I buy my iPhone for apple online store, and I did call maxis they told me they know about the 3G issue and they are waiting apple to solve the problem. Maybe u need to go maxis centra! Let they check your iPhone 5! The number they get you is switch, they also try to send me to apple care n apple care send me back to them! The problem I have us the apple conforms is my hardware issue and they wanna me just go to switch to swap my iPhone but switch dun wanna me to swap it for me, they wanna to me to turn in my iPhone for them to test for a week , after that if they think is hardware issue than they will make a order for Singapore, and wait for Singapore send them the replacement iphone. So I have to wait up to 2 weeks for me to get the replacement iPhone! And the apple care senior advisor also say there is no point for them to do the test, because they already confirm is hardware issue! Last Friday I talk to apple care and switch for more than 3hours,  why I need to wait for two weeks to get the replacement iPhone and I dun have phone to use in this two weeks!

    I talked to Maxis (telco), they said it was iOS problem, without knowing that I hv upgraded to IOS 6.1.3, they told me after upgrading to 6.1.3, problem should go.... To cut the long story short, I ended up calling Apple which agreed I it is hardware problem and they gv me the so called Penang Apple Centre but I was then asked to talk to Maxis :-s


    Whatever it is, the conclusion is the whole Apple team (Apple & its partners) *****. Such thing will not happen in Western country as Apple does not respect Asian, does not respect our consumer's right. My friend had a Mac Air which the local apple centre refused to fix, got it fixed in UK.


    Just like you, I don't have another phone to use. Maybe we should report to Tribunal of Comsumers and get a refund, then we should but other smartphones.


    Since iPhone 3GS, I converted my whole family to iPhone 4, I got myself a Mac Air, Apple TV, iPod, iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad Mini, iPad 4 and this BAD iPhone 5, I will put a full stop here. I think Apple needs Steve Jobs to come back....

    This problem has been efecting my business.. hiw many iphone 5 I managed to use since the 3g problems? 5 units.. same.. its not hardware problems.. its the ios.. but apple too arrogant to admit... it seems only those that are on 900mhz gsm are effected (celcom n maxis in malaysia).. I dun see much digi 1800mhz users complaining though.. anyways.. r u guys gonna still support apple after this issue?... apple sg snd me 4 units replaceme t and still same.. I sold mine n got a new samsung note 2 lte n was surprised that those very bad 3g areas for my iphone 5 was actually strong 4g signals . I can even go data whikts on Edge at low signal areas.. I can bet maxis n celcom users hardly can use edge at all.. ive done being faithfull to apple since iphone 2g models.. I have to lose all my messages since 2009 buts its ok.. surfing on 28mbps  on onky 1 bar 4g is more than enuff reason for me to enjoy samsung.. iphkne 5s? Iphone 6? I dunno.. traumatiza akready.. owh n Im not gonna miss rebooting nad airplane mode a zillion times on my iphone n also whike on DUKE highway.. no more drop calls on my note.. apple.. I didnt know u have to end up like this for me.. bye bye..

    Thanks for sharing. I think I have high chance to get a refund from Maxis with your confirmation as Maxis should not sell the iPhone 5 to us knowing that the iPhone 5 has problem with 900mhz gsm. Maxis is being irresponsible..... like Apple.


    I used to ask why there are ppl buying Samsung's, now I found the answer. Do you guy also know there is serious dust issue with both the iPhone and iPad's screen? If u can't see it, get a touch light to help, scan thru the screen without turning them on. I think the probability is 4 out of 10 :-s

    Hiw can maxis sells us an LTE iphone 5 but doesnt support our Malaysia 2600mhz band 7 KTE spectrum? Felt cheated here.. when maxis themselves are already introducing 4g lte everywer already..  I was so surprised even at suburbs in klsng valkey I have 4g dsta speeds.. bye bye my iphone.. gonna miss ur slimnest.. ur beautiful body.. but u cant perform basic stuphs anymore..hato it when all my emails and whatsapps messages comes ij all at 1 time becoz its wasnt coming in when it shud.. sigh..

    I'm on maxis too. Their support staff kept telling me they are looking to solve it. I just laughed and said they are fighting a futile war and they thing we are stupid, after I mentioned about this discussion on the forum then they are lost for words. Do you think If I returned the iPhone to the maxis center they would take it back and give me a full refund or change it to a galaxy note 2? I'm really sad this had to happen After such a good experience with the 4s. The iPhone 5 has been ****....I hardly get 30% exposure to 3G whereas my sisters galaxy 3 is smoothly flying on the 3G.

    Worst of it all I have a 10gb data plan and I'm also on the verge of throwing it back to them.

    Truly very sad, apple guys here also can't bloody respond and advise the situation, and maxis people are giving excuses after excuses!!! **** , maybe all us maxis users here who bought the iPhone there should send them a formal complaint with all our details attached together. Mine is a 32gb what a waste, all that looks but usability like poop !

    I still waiting for switch and the apple senior advisor to solve me problem! The senior advisor is trying to help me to get my new replacement without waiting for 2 weeks. Hope this Monday they can solve the problem!

    Just got off the phone with my ISP guys Maxis. They still cant tell exactly when this problem will be resolved, to i make things worst, had clearly stated the global issue oin this matter. Asked them for an immediate replacement set, and if that doesnt solve...change it to a different device !!!!!!! They should know, we are consumers, we are paying and when things like this crops up..WE LOSE !!! sigh.


    I hope this can be resolved. Still have maybe a tiny micron hope left on Apple !!!!!!!!

    Hi, did they make a immediate replacement for you? For me the switch severe provider dun care if the apple care about apple care confirms is a hardware issue, and the senior avisor also say there swicth is no need to do text for a weeks, they just need to order the replacement iphone and send my back to them. but switch still wanna me to turn in the iPhone for them to check for a weeks and if they think is hardware issue they than will order a replacement iphone from Singapore. Than I have to wait Singapore to ship it to Penang! Switch dun care what apple saying. The funny part is every time you go there if they can't help you on some thing, they will tell you call apple care hotline they are the one can help you, if they agree. switch will follow what they ask to do!
