Yesterday my apple TV prompted me to update software, as it does every so often. I updated the software & now it won't work. All the movies and TV shows come up on the screen as usual, but none of them can be accessed & its a permanent loop

I updated software on my apple TV and now it won't work. Has anybody else had this experience, as I thought it was probably a bad software update. The movies etc come up on screen, so it is connecting to the itunes store, but if you select any one of them or any of the options, the screen goes to black and then returns to the movies screen again, in a permanent loop. Also I had bought a season of a TV program and that always used to appear in the top RH corner of the screen ready to go; now that has disappeared so it's like I lost my purchased programs as well.
