When I launch Preview, I get a splash screen on startup:
I have a MBP runing Mountain Lion 10.8.2
I also have an iMac running the same OS; that preview doesn't give me the above splash screen.
How can I disable it?

Select On My Mac at the upper left.
Even when I do this, it still loads this splash screen.
Interesting, never noticed it before. It appears that if you have Documents and Data turned on in the iCloud settings in System Preferences you will get this screen.
If you don;t want it it seems the only way to get rid of it is to turn off the iCloud Documents and Data setting.
