My Ipad 2 is stuck in recovery mode after the update 6.1

Two days ago I heard of people around me the new update for the ipad2 is out so I went to settings checked if there was one and there was one. So I clicked on download and so it went on it turned off after it and got stuck on the screen where you see you have to connect to itunes. I connected it to itunes and it said its in recovery mode. I clicked on recovory and fix it so it went downloading after 12 min maybe it was finished but came up with the error 1403 that the downloading was damaged and corrupted.... So I tried agin but I keep getting the same message and two days have gone by and still cant use my Ipad? Anyone else has this problem with his/her ipad 2? Anyone else who fixed it? Is apple working on it?

he only way to restore your Ipad 2 is to open your Ipad and remove the LCD screen then you have to remove the volume control doughterboard connectore cable from the logic board (you can see this in youtube how to open your Ipad). Then connect your ipad to PC and make restore through Itunes it will take 5 minuts maxiumum.

For sure 100 percent it will work! fix every thing back and restart your ipad. This is the only way to get your ipad working again.

After that when it is working let me know if you want to know why this problem occured?

Magno,

thanks for your information.

You are right. I read all information about this even lots of youtube. I got a clue from you and other helps. I just restored my iPad 2 Wifi from 5.1.1 to the latest one. I worked on it for 3 days about stuck on restore mode which screen show a cable connect to iTune. I got 3194,3004 error every time. Finally I got very useful message from your methord.

1, I just chose one my desktop whcih is clear with vista (It does not matter). I checked the (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) file which does not include any like "gs.apple.com" line. If there is it, do like other said add # at the begining or delete whole line.

2. I installed new iTune, then open it. Checked hosts file again. Nothing changed.

3. Connect ed my ipad 2 to one usb port. (Actually I tried every usb port with restoring from the files I downloaded, it still kept 3194 error. It was not useful.) Just click the restore button without pressing any shift key, itune started downloading and verifiing what ever. It is working for 6 to 10 minutes depends internet speed. After done, nothing changed but no error.

4. I did step 3 again. This time it was really working. just waited for a new ipad coming out.

Hope you guys lucky. Don't give up.

It's crazy that people are STILL having problems with that update. Apple should be doing something to help. I think the trick is to restore with itunes on a desktop or a laptop with the ethernet connected. Wifi goes in and out without being noticed and to resrore, you need a constant connection. So basically, you have to go old school internet. Lol! Hope this helps.

Good morning everyone,

My ipad started having issues after I installed 7.1. The install we perfect and running for a few days. Then once or twice a week I would have to hard reboot (home/power) to get the unit to turn back on. The frequency frequency of this lockup increased as time moved on. Then it was every time the iPad went to sleep it would crash.

Last night I connected my iPad to my mac laptop and did a complete backup. Then I erased the unit and restored to the last backup. Once everything was reloaded and setting all reset, I let the unit go to sleep. The lockup was back.

I erased the unit again and this time I set up the unit as a new ipad. No software installed, only the 7.1 OS. Waited for the unit to sleep, and it never work up. I tried everything in this forum with mixed results.

I downloaded the OS 5.1 that someone provided a link to and did the option click to restore using the downloaded OS and the unit would halt at the upload screen on the ipad. This would go for about 90 minutes without correcting the problem. The unit was stuck in recovery mode!

Next I installed Apple Configurator from the app store. This process also stalled at the same place, however after 90 minutes I cancelled the install and disconnected the ipad as was preparing to run redsnow. To my surprise when I connected the ipad back into the computer, it came back to life. I was able to see the home screen and then waited for it to sleep. Of course it went back into recovery mode.

Using redsnow, I selected extras and Recovery fix. The problem is now fixed!

I had this problem last year. I'm going to explain this to you and hopefully I can remember everything I did. I downloaded iTunes on my laptop and connected it to the Ethernet wire so that the internet is constant. I plugged my iPad into the laptop and iTunes opened and pretty much guided mr through recovering the iPad. All of my pics, contacts, apps, etc. was gone, but you can go to the App Store and tap on purchased and every app you downloaded should be there and you just tap the cloud to put them back. My contacts eventually just reappeared. I have no idea how that happened. Otherwise, you just have to put them back in manually. I'd saved my pics on a USB so, that wasn't a problem. Now I use Dropbox to save then as I take them. I can go to my laptop and restore them at any time. I am a rambler, but I hope this helps.

Don't worry about that. iPad stuck in recovery mode/ always happens when you update the iOS on your iPad. There are two ways to solve it.

First is is to put your iPad in DFU mode.
Step 1. Turn off iPad
Step 2. Hold down the Power and Home button.
Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the Home button down.
Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that it’s in restore mode.

Second is to fix with iPad Data Recovery.
Step 1: Fix the Problem of iPad Stuck in Recovery Mode
Step 2: Recover Data from your iPad Directly
Step 3: Recover Lost Data from iTunes Backup
You can try both of them.
