My Ipad 2 is stuck in recovery mode after the update 6.1

Two days ago I heard of people around me the new update for the ipad2 is out so I went to settings checked if there was one and there was one. So I clicked on download and so it went on it turned off after it and got stuck on the screen where you see you have to connect to itunes. I connected it to itunes and it said its in recovery mode. I clicked on recovory and fix it so it went downloading after 12 min maybe it was finished but came up with the error 1403 that the downloading was damaged and corrupted.... So I tried agin but I keep getting the same message and two days have gone by and still cant use my Ipad? Anyone else has this problem with his/her ipad 2? Anyone else who fixed it? Is apple working on it?

Using Apple Configurator to Prepare my attached iPad with the "latest" software fixed the problem for me, as per RavingWalrus' post in the following related thread:

The result is that IOS 6.1 is now installed on my iPad 2.

Thanks RavingWalrus.

Clearly this problem didn't happen to every iPad2, but it did affect many iPad2's. Mine is over a year old, perhaps those that they sell now have had a defect addressed that mine doesn't have. Someone from Apple could probably tell us the common denominator here, but judging from the support experience reported on these threads and all over Google, they are oblivious to the issue.

The Apple Configurator works for anyone that can use it. This leaves Windows folks out in the cold, I know, and I am sorry that I don't know anything about using Apple devices with a Windows system. Keep looking though - now we have demonstrated that it is not your network, your firewall, your A/V software, or anything else but Apple who is at fault here (assuming you have the exact same problem that I did about not being able to contact the server loop).

This advice has saved not only my iPad Mini but an expensive and lengthy trip to my nearest Apple store.

The only hard part was getting the iPad into recovery mode, you really do need to hold those buttons down for the full 10 seconds...

My iPad is now reset and charging up in readiness for the next stage of putting all my info back on it :-)

My Ipad is stuck in recovery mode as well. I'm guessing that once I restore it I will lose all of my files, photos, videos, data, etc? I checked my iCloud and I guess they aren't synced on there. Is there any way to recover my files once I restore my Ipad? I wouldn't care so much, but my son's birth videos and photos are on it...:(

Techmadness, this possibly will mean nothing to you as you have been thanked by many, many people on here already but I would just like to genuinely extend my gratitude to you for this suggestion.

A bit of an explanation, I have been without work for some months and have been unable to afford to get my iPad fixed, as apple were charging me what I thought was an incredible amount to fix a cracked screen before they would touch it. Therefore, I have been without my iPad since the beginning of December whilst still paying for it as we decided to get it on a "pay-weekly" system and way of paying as we honestly believed it would pay for itself in the long run this way, which up until it went off, it did.

When my iPad broke and was unfixable by Apple, I had lost a lot of work that I had stored upon it and couldn't get back. Now, as I have used this fix to restore my iPad to it's former glory, I can download everything back onto my own tablet and work from it whenever I wanted to, which I genuinely believe will help me get back up and running with work and start, really, improving my life.

I wish I knew your real name to thank you properly, but you have made a hollow man feel whole again. Thank you my friend, thank you and best wishes to you, your family and anyone that comes into contact with you.

I am eternally grateful. Seriously. You'll never know how much.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
