Feb 19, 2013 2:54 PM in response to Icycreamingby Techmadness,Hi everyone,
I'm so very pleased that you've all managed to fix your devices :)
Some of your comments have certainly been heard, even by Apple.
I've not been around on the forum as I was sent a nastygram about advertising sources that weren't authorised by Aople..... I notice it took almost a month for them to find a fix, and that hardly worked on many devices. So that's gratitude for you.
Anyhow, I'm glad I was able to help, if you have any questions or want to say hi, I'm sure you can message me directly or via the email in my profile.
My kindest regards,
TM
(I'm sure ill have a question for you lot soon enough)

Feb 21, 2013 11:42 PM in response to Techmadnessby Sandeep Kankatala,Hi Techmadness
I have ran into the same problem this morning.
I have downloaded the file on my Windows 7 PC. I followed your instructions but the problem is my iPad2 device is not even being recognised by iTunes. So I could not go past step 2.
I have uninstalled itunes and all other related Apple softwares and files, restarted my computer and reinstalled itunes again, even then iTunes is not recognising my iPad.
Any ideas on how to resolve this fix.
Thanks in advance.

Feb 22, 2013 12:36 AM in response to Sandeep Kankatalaby Techmadness,Hi Sandeep,
First off, does windows spot your device, does it appear in device manager?
If it does, uninstall it reboot and reconnect.
Let the drivers reinstall and then fire up iTunes.
If it is not recognised I would find a different cable, use a different USB port and try another machine.
You don't need t use your PC to do the firmware upgrade so don't be afraid of using someone else's.

Feb 22, 2013 3:20 AM in response to Techmadnessby Sandeep Kankatala,Thanks a million Techmadness.
It worked and the good thing is there is no data loss.
I tried 2 USB ports initially on my Windows laptop, and was lazy to try the third one. After reading your message I tried the 3rd one and it worked like a charm.
Many thanks.
What I have noticed is: (at least for me in this case) this happens when iOS is updated through PC and does not have any problems when its updated via Wifi directlt on the iPad.

Mar 9, 2013 4:26 PM in response to hotorangeby pshomii,I'm having problems as well. Just bought the iPad 2 last weekend and updated to iOS 6.1.2. Now it keeps "bricking" at random times. Hard reset (holding sleep and home button) keeps it in the Apple Logo loop. I tried to go back to iOS 6.1, but once I try to restore it to that; it's got to verify the .ipsw file with Apple and it won't let me restore to that.
Any help would be appreciated, but I'm probably SOL, might have to return it.

Mar 14, 2013 10:25 AM in response to hotorangeby Figure8knot,Hello.
I have an iPad 2 and have a PC. I too am stuck in the recovery loop with the USB image pointing to iTunes. I tried updating first through iTunes again and again and again. I then found this discussion with several success stories. Fingers crossed, I downloaded the file, I pressed my left shift and was able to select the file, but all the way at the end, there was an error with Apple I have tried all the ports on my laptop and no changes. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Please help!!! Thanks in advance.

Mar 26, 2013 8:45 AM in response to hotorangeby McNinja,I had the same problem and had been trying Techmadness's technique but I kept getting the 3194 error and could not restore it manually.
I rebooted my laptop, turned off antivirus, used a different cable and tried the restore straight from iTunes again (meaning not the manual restore) and it worked for me. I'm not saying all of this is neccesary to do but this is all I had done. I think rebooting the computer may be the fix?
I'm just pointing this out because I was so caught up in the fact that something was wrong, I didn't even think to try and restore it again normally. Maybe Apple fixed the issue since? I don't know but I have to say this was a pain in the rear. All over a simple update? Come on Apple. And here I was on the fence about getting a Macbook. I think I'll pass.
Also thanks Techmadness, your technique seems to have saved a lot of people the hassel. It's good to know this exists for future issues, which I'm sure there will be considering Apple has taken a longish break from customer service.
