Q: My Ipad 2 is stuck in recovery mode after the update 6.1

Two days ago I heard of people around me the new update for the ipad2 is out so I went to settings checked if there was one and there was one. So I clicked on download and so it went on it turned off after it and got stuck on the screen where you see you have to connect to itunes. I connected it to itunes and it said its in recovery mode. I clicked on recovory and fix it so it went downloading after 12 min maybe it was finished but came up with the error 1403 that the downloading was damaged and corrupted.... So I tried agin but I keep getting the same message and two days have gone by and still cant use my Ipad? Anyone else has this problem with his/her ipad 2? Anyone else who fixed it? Is apple working on it?

Print this thread and go and get a refund ASAP!

(Any problem, threaten trading standards at the counter and the till will *pop* open)

    This is their fault, period.

I'm shocked that the great Apple are suggesting the all wifi is at fault... Maybe they would have tested their deployment method before deploying it.

Ok I have the same problem....I have downloaded the file on my Windows PC and when I click on restore (the bottom of the list the file named iPad2,1_6.1_10B41_Restore) and I pressume the Ctrl button nothing happens, I have also tried the Shift key also and still nothing happens.  Any other suggestions? I am probably doing somthing wrong?

    Regards - Kate

I can only suggest you read the steps again, it does work.

You only need to hold SHIFT when you click the restore button.

If the dialogue box appears that allows you to find the file you downloaded then that step worked.

If the restore fails then you may need to download the other firmware files, there are a couple for each device type and its trial and error.

Depends on your connection and the server hosting the files is probably getting a beating today.

    It's about 700mb per file.

Ahh me being dumb...yes the dialogue box opens to find the file but although its showing on my desktop where I placed it, when the dialogue box opens to select it and I select desktop its not there?  Maybe I should admit defeat lol. Many thanks.

Arr I understand where your stuck (I hope)

    Either,

    1. When the dialogue box opens under the file name box the will be a 'file type' drop down box. Click that and select 'all file types' or '*.*' if the file is on your desktop it should appear.

    Or

    2. move the file to a new location, I'd say you should create a new folder in drive C: as the desktop is not the best place to save files. Windows doesn't always display all file types there. Move the file in there and try again.

    Fingers crossed.

    Hi Techmadness,

I realised this so I deleted the file and saved it again saying save to "all files" or something.  I then managed to find the file when I clicked on Shift and Restore and it went through all the restoring thing and seems to have worked but now all I have is a dead battery on my screen.......ooh...ooh....wait the Apple logo is loading.....Its worked, OMG your an absolute star, thank you so much!!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
