Somebody out there must know the answer and if so, please let me know. How do I get my HP Laser Jet 6p to work with OSX 10.8.2?

It prints, but does not print the preview. It prints the following:

%APL_DSC_Encoding: UTF8 % APLProducer: (Version 10.8.2 (Build 12C2


I am new to mac and if there is any help, laymans terms would suit me.

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

HP only support the laserjet 6P on Mac OSX up to 10.5.8, they have not made any new drivers since then. Try a generic driver, it may work.

Ok, I've downloaded the drivers as suggested.but still not printing as it should.


It's now printing one page as opposed to many, but it still has the jargon on top of the page as depicted in my original post?

From this info you advised, it does suggest, does it not, that the HP Laser Jet 6p is supported.


Meanwhile, any other advice.

If the Gutenprint installation procedure offers an obvious uninstall button or script, then uninstall it, but do not delete the installer. If this is less obvious, don't bother for now.


Concentrate on setting up your LJ 6 with just the latest HP drivers via the Print & Scan preferences. If this does not cooperate, you can fallback on Gutenprint.
