I cannot import photos from e-mails to iPhoto anymore. When I click on "save to iPhoto" in Mail, nothing happens. I have to drag each photo into iPhoto. This is a huge problem as I have a lot of photos from a project to bring into iPhoto. Also, when I drag a photo, the original info (date etc.) is changed to the date I've dragged the photo, not when the photo was taken, & I need to have the original info.

Any suggestions?

This is a problem introduced with the 10.8.2 OS update and we hope it will be fixed in the 10.8.3 one.

iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback and let them know you need it fixed.

Where are you seeing these dates?

The photos are of a construction project a neighbor sent me over a period of weeks. They were taken with a digital camera & he e-mailed them to me. When I finally dragged them to iPhoto, which was suggested as a remedy by an Apple "genius", the dates of the creation of the photo changed to the date that I dragged them into iPhoto, not the date they were taken. Since I dragged many different photos from several e-mails on the same day, now there is no way to chronicle the progression of the construction & what was done when.

What I really need is to find out why I can't "save to iPhoto" anymore. This is since I did the last update of iPhoto.

When I click on the photo in iPhoto & the information about the photo is displayed to the right of it.

I dragged several photos which were taken over several weeks into iPhoto & now they all show that the date they were dragged into iPhoto. So my photo library, if I display as "Photos" (not as "Events" for example) is not in the right time sequence. Photos taken at different times are all put in at the same date.

By the way, thanks for the suggestion to write to iPhoto Feedback, which I've done.

Again, where are you seeing the date?

Select one of the imported photos, type Command + i and check in the iPhoto Info drawer to see what the EXIF capture date is for those photos.

User uploaded file

If the date is correct then you're looking at the file created or modified date and not the EXIF capture date that's embedded in the image file itself.

The image you've shown is where I am seeing the date. And the dates for all the pictures that I dragged into iPhoto on Dec. 17th, show that as the date for the photo, even though the photos were from several mails over several weeks.

I am hoping that it is true that this was a glitch in the 10.8.2 update & will be corrected in 10.8.3 because it's driving me nuts!

Okay, I dragged a phtoto to the desktop, opened it in Preview & used the Inspector -- & the date is always December 17th, when I dragged the photo into iPhoto. I know that the photo was taken some time in November, but can't place the date now. If it's a glitch in the photos, then it's very strange. The photos were taken by different people with different cameras.

At any rate, thanks for the suggestions. I can live with the photos having the wrong dates, although it's annoying & a bother. But I do need to be able to save images from e-mails using "save to iPhoto" as it's supposed to workd & not having to drag each one individually. And I'm hoping that this will be corrected soon.

The point is to save one directly to the desktop from your email and check the EXIF data before it is touched by iPhoto (not to export a known bad one from iPhoto) - I am 99.99% sure you will find that the data you are giving to iPhoto is wrong or missing - but the way to find out is to check the source before importing to iPhoto

OK, I'm having the same problem with the date. I import photos by dragging them to the iphoto icon in the dock, and then they show up in events as "June 19, 2013", event though the photos were taken last weekend with a digital camera. It also happens when someone sends me an adorable photo of one of my kids when they were babies -- very difficult. And, then I go to Photos -- Adjust Date and Time, it is grey instead of black, i.e., not an available option. It's killing me! To be clear, I see the date both in the Key Photo in Events, and when I click on the info for an individual photo. I also cannot click on the date to change it, as I can with some other photos.

Try the same test Larry suggests above.

Drag the photo from the email to the desktop. Open it with Preview or some other app and see what date it reports. This will tell us whether the problem is with the actual snap or the application.

This may be related to the Adjust Date and Time command being unavailable. This occurs when the images do not have Exif metadata. Are these scans?

Interesting....OK, my husband sent me a picture that he took on his iphone 5 last week. I dragged it to the desktop, and checked the date. It said "6/20" (today). But then, weh I dropped it into iphoto, it was the proper date!! 6/16/13!! Hmmmmm.... And I could have adjusted date and time if I wanted. Soooo, is it only a problem on not apple products, maybe?

Thanks!
