My ipod classic 160gb has started to pause, play and skip randomly.

When I pause it, it will just start playing again and it takes several times for it to actually pause. I can't even listen to a whole song straight, It will just skip and pause. I reset it and restored it and it still occurs. I was thinking of installing the last firmware before this one and seeing if that helps. Help?
