Not sure if this is a bug in Mountain Lion or my trackpad but, when I want to copy a file from one folder to another, I hold down Option and Drag as I always have. I see a plus symbol by the cursor but, when I release the trackpad, the file has moved to the new location.
Any fixes?

If you drag and drop a file from one location to another on the same hard drive that results in a "move" not a "copy." To perform a copy select the file, press COMMAND-C (copy), go to the desired destination location and click in the destination folder then press COMMAND-V (paste).
Dragging and dropping across drives, however, results in a "copy" and not a "move."
Works OK here with ML and a magic mouse.
Make sure you are keeping the option key pressed until after you release the pressure on the trackpad. If I release the option key before releasing the mouse it will move the file not copy. The green plus needs to be visible until after the operation is done.
When I hold down the option key while dragging a file, I get a copy not a move.
Try logging into another account, like Guest, and see if the same thing happens.
If it does, try starting into the Safe Mode to see if thing same thing happens:
Thanks, Frank. I was releasing the option key prematurely. Guess I'm still trying to get the hang of using the trackpad in conjunction with the keyboard. For some reason, I don't have this problem with my MacBook trackpad and keyboard. . . .
