New Time Capsule User--one MacBook can't see it, one can

I set up a Time Capsule last night and it's working fine with my MBP 13" 10.6.8 but my wife's MBAir 10.5.8 can't find the disk on the network nor does it see my MBP.

From the MBP I can see both the TC disk and the MBAir.

As far as the WiFi router function goes, the Time Capsule works fine with both laptops.

I'm trying to figure out what network setting(s) on the MBAir are the problem.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7), Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz 8GB RAM

Is the TC the main and only router on the network?

Does the MBair get internet ok via the TC?

Is the guest network setup? The MBAir is not connecting to guest network? If so it will not be able to see the TC or MBP.

How did you set security on the TC for disk access? Try turning on the guest account to read and write. Even if just to test.

I doubt it will be settings on the MBAir .. it is more likely an age issue on such old OS.. there were major changes in security of AFP in Lion.. they maybe revised in the 10.6.x but failed to reach back to 10.5.x but I am far from expert on that stuff.

1. TC is connected by Ethernet to my Verizon provided router. Both MacBooks are on the TC's network, not the Verizon trouter's network.

If the Verizon is a router and not just a modem.. you should have the TC in bridge mode.. Do not run two networks because you then introduce double NAT.. which I am sure the TC is complaining about.

3. Guest network is OFF. Why does MBAir need guest network? I'll turn it on and see what happens.

4. TC security is by TC password.

I wanted to be sure you did not have guest network on.. that would cause the issue.. there is no need to turn on guest network. so please do not.

I do think you should just test by turning on guest access on the TC.

Just set the guest to read and write.

Open a terminal and ping the MBP from the Air.. does it respond?

Do you have shares turned on in the MBP so the Air can access them?
