Q: ios 6.1 wifi issue

I recently upgrade my ipod touch 4th gen to ios 6.1. ever since then my wifi has been coming on and off at random times. i know it has to be a problem with the upgrade because it worked flawlessly before. all my other devices are hooked up to the same internet and the all still work. its very frustrating and i want to know if it can be fixed or if i can downgrade back to ios 6

My wife and I called Apple a few days ago after she installed 6.1 on her iPad 2. She had zero wifi issues before the update. When we called Apple we were told we had to pay a annual $249 fee or $99 for a three month subscription for the technical support. Since we were not willing to pay, they would not help us. Too bad cannot go back to 6.0.1. because it worked fine. My iPad 3 works great on 6.0.1 and will not update.

omg - when will I learn to check first to see if tons of people are having problems with an "update" before updating!? I wish I'd never "updated" to iOS 6.1 - my phone (iPhone 4s) worked perfectly fine before it, and now I can't connect to my own router! (And yes, I tried all the "fixes.") Arrrrrrgh!!! >:(

Sam problem here, but mine results in slower speeds. Even next to router, my iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1 will connect at half the speed my MBA mid 2012 will connect at... as measure by speedtest app.

BTW, I tried resetting the network settings on my iPhone to see if this would help. It worked really well for about 5-10 minutes. My iPhone was getting the same speeds as my MBA. Unfotunately, it didn't last long. I tried it again and sure enough the speeds were back to normal... for about 5-10 minutes.

    Apple, comon' and fix it!

Same as wes, iPhone 4S, ios 6.1. Wifi greyed out. After various restores, resets etc, it is no longer greyed out but won't connect to any wifi, won't even discover it.  Didn't happen immediately after update.  Took a few days. Unfortunately mine is out of support. Will wait for 6.1.1 and if that doesn't fix it then ill be ditching the phone.

Updated wife's iPad 2 to 6.1 from 5.X and lost the wifi.

I tried to reset the networks. That didn't work. I changed proxy to auto. That didn't work. Turned wifi om and off, forgot network. No and no.

Lastly, I reset the networks and turned the airplane mode on and off, BINGO back in business. Not going to argue with success. Weird fix though.

So folks- here my interim balance sheet about iUnits I have access to:

iPhone 3GS 32GB, 6.1 - very very weak WIFI, 4 meters away from server signal is gone,

    iPhone 3GS 16GB, 6.1 - weak, but better stability,

iPad 3 32 GB, 6.1 - no Problems at all.

I would guess, that in specific models of iPhone/Pad there are specific electronic components, that have some kind of trouble with the 6.1 software...

Has anyone downgraded to 5.x for countercheck?

My iPhone 5 (just 2 months old) has been been dropping wifi too.  I also have an iPad Mini.  I upgraded both to IOS 6.1 the day that the upgrade first became available.  This weekend I received a notice from AT&T that my data limit was about to be exceeded.

I looked back at previous messages from AT&T and they began shortly after the upgrade.  For the last two days  I have been running both the phone and the iPad side by side.  The iPhone keeps loosing wifi and requires a wifi password when attempting to reconnect.  The iPad, sitting right next to the phone, both at work and at home, has no issues.

I called techical support.  They told me I needed to set the iPhone back to factory settings, reinstall everything and if that doesn't work, set up an appointment with an Apple store to replace the unit. If it weren't for all of the posts above, I would have thought that I just got a bad unit. Having read all these posts I'm finding it hard to believe the problem is the hardware.  But what the hey...if a new phone fixes the problem....

Agreed. Updated to ios 6.1.1, wifi greyed out. Reset network settings, not greyed out now but still doesn't pick up any networks.

My Wifi keeps dropping both on iPad and iPhone 5 after update to 6.1. Update 6.1.1 is still not available. It's horrid, as everything worked fine till 6.1.

The factory reset did not work.  The wifi problem still persists.  I hope to exchange my phone this evening.

I am also having IOS 6.1 issues where my wifi drops all the time and I have to turn my data off now so I do not go over my data limits. The iPhone 5 is great but why are these issues not fixed? Apple has many dissatified customers on their hands.
