I don't have a snow leopard but a 10.6.8 an I would like to update my Mail version. I have 4.6 and I would like 5.0, do you know if I can have it ?

Yes you do! OS 10.6.8 is Snow Leopard.
The system requirements for Mail 5.0 is Lion & Mountain Lion. So in order for you have it, you must upgrade your OS.
Why do you need to go to the expense of upgrading to get mail 5.0.? Mail 4.6 is perfectly good.
Thunderbird is even better!
Upgrading my OS seems too complicated. I will have a glance at Thunderbird..
I don't like the design of the 4.6 version and the appearance of categories.
