Yes, on XP, Vista and 7. Have not tried 8.

Genie Timeline Pro does a very nice job...and it is similar to Apple's Time Machine.  It's not cheap though.  Check with the Genie folks for more info and compatibility with Windows 8.

I just recently upgraded my PC to Windows 7 from Vista. Previously, I was able to use the Windows backup program to backup to my Time Capsule, however, after upgrading, the Windows Backup program does not seem to recognize my Time Capsule as a legitimate network drive to backup to. When I launch the Windows Backup program, it only provides the option to backup to DVD.

Any ideas on how to make Windows 7 recognize my Time Machine as a legitimate backup drive option?

Yes, get pro or ultimate.. they removed backup to network drives in home versions.. gives you a warm fuzzy feeling how MS help you with backing up doesn't it.

You see MS believes a home version of the windows does not connect to a network drive so there is no need for the back up to work to network drives.. logical isn't it. They also use a nasty cut down version MSbackup in home versions which cannot do a reinstall from a boot disk.. overall give up on MSbackup.. it is a piece of trash.

Macrium Reflect is free and will do disk backups.. you do have to pay for it to do incremental backups but I have found it great.. easy to boot a computer from Linux CD or USB stick and reload the OS direct from backup.

There are zillions of backup softwares.. the very worst heap of crud on the bottom of the bowl is the MS version.

Thanks for your quick reply! Very disappointing that an upgrade actually downgrades capabilities - I guess that's why it took me so long to upgrade to Windows 7. I'll take your advice and try out Macrium Reflect.
