Belkin keyboard issues

We are having problems with a new Belkin keyboard for the ipad - it works fine in the shop but with our ipad 2 at home it mis-assigns keys, so that a , is swapped with a m, and a q with an a. Most other keys work fine. I was wondering if anyone has come across this or knows what can correct it. The keyboard seems fine, and worked well in the shop. Do I need to upgrade Apple software or something?
