from some time now, i have a siren sound that plays randomly on my mac. I have all my software off, but still it plays. How can i find from where is coming this sound and turn it off?

Hi, it comes from the speakers, if the volume is muted turns it on at max volume....
I have macbook pro retina - a month old
For last few days a siren comes up randomly - like the arcade games ....
same thing here, this morning twice already, randomly a police siren sounded , after 20 seconds it shuts off.
i had only safari open.
iMac i7 , snow lion.
console log does not show any process running at that time ...
where else can i look to find out what would do this?

prank?
hardware failure?
