iCloud restore on new phone did not restore camera roll

I had my Iphone4s replaced today. I had backed up my old phone prior to erasing the data and activating the new phone. Once I restored the phone, my photos from my camera roll did not restore. All of these photos were taken on my old phone therefor should have been backed up. I did update the software prior to the backup and the new phone has the new software installed. We just had a baby and I need to keep those photos!
