No sound on logic software instruments

hello,

I recently downloaded logic on my mac book and I am having some troubles with sound and recording. I go to use a software instrument, no plug ins or extras just usuing the mac keyboard as the small pop up piano with caps lock, and I cannot hear the instrument being played before, during, or after recording. it does however show that something has been recorded onto a track and shows it being recorded, but no sound is ever played. I have been searching and clicking through logic for awhile now trying to figure out the problem, but so far I havent found anything. If anyone is able to help me that would be wonderful! thank you.

What software instrument have you loaded up?

I think the first thing to do is of course to consult the manual.

From the above link read: "Configuring Your Audio Hardware". (this includes the computer's built in sound).

You will probably want Built-In-Sound for both In and Output.

Also go to your Utilities folder and Open "Audio MIDI Setup", the Audio Tab will let you see the current setup for Mac sound, I presume you're listening through the Mac speakers? Make sure they're selected as the output.

Second is this.

Choose: Exploring Logic Pro

From there choose chapter 3. Working With Instruments.

To use Logic, the user manuals are imperative, that is unless you have a solid background of using professional Audio/MIDI sequencing software.

But even then one could assume things which aren't there at all or the other way round. When trouble shooting logic 'user manuals' are essential and when you are a seasoned Logic expert you'll use it to double check the facts, because in Logic problems just aren't logic at all sometimes.

Cheers!
