What do I need to set up a Marantz SR-7007 for AirPlay?

Hi folks, I just bought a Marantz SR-7007, and I'd like to set it up for AirPlay use. Does anyone know how to? I am unfortunately quite clueless. I know I need to plug in a wireless device to the Marantz, via Ethernet. That I get. Do I need a router, or an access point? What else do I need?

Thanks!

To use AirPlay you need at least three things: 1) An iTunes host to stream the audio, 2) A wired or wireless network, and 3) An AirPlay "speaker."

In your case your Marantz AV receiver is performing as the AirPlay speaker. A typical iTunes host can be a Mac or PC running iTunes or an iOS device (iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.). If you already have a wireless network then you already have everything you'll need for streaming.

I'm not quite sure that's the case. My question is somewhat hardware-specific. My Marantz is AirPlay enabled, and I don't need an external device to be the AirPlay base station (as opposed to using an Airport Express station otherwise)

I'm told that the hardware is inside, I just have to plug in wireless via the Ethernet port at the back (as the Marantz unit itself does not have any wireless hardware).

What exactly do I have to plug in to my Marantz then? A router? An access point?

First off, nice AV receiver BTW.

I don't have this particular model, but I downloaded and familiarized myself with the user guide for yours. Your Marantz does not have built-in wireless capability, but it does for wired networking.

If your goal is to have it connect to the Internet by a wireless connection, then you have a few options to explore: 1) Although the SR-7007 has a USB port, I don't believe that it would support connecting a USB wireless adapter to. You may want to check with Marantz support to verify this, 2) Use an 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) as a wireless Ethernet bridge. This option would require a second wireless router to provide a wireless network, and 3) Connect the Marantz directly to an existing router by Ethernet
