Getting phone out of iTunes recovery mode loop

A while back I dropped my iPhone 4 in the bath, everything worked fine apart from the home button which didn't work at all and when my phone was completely flat and I put it on charge it would tell me to connect to iTunes, I used to solve this my unplugging my phone and turning it on and off (without holding the home button as it doesn't work) everything was fine doing that until recently when I tried to do a software update after verifying the update my phone went black and then told me to connect to iTunes, I unplugged my phone and tried to restart it, but it just came back on telling me to connect to iTunes, how can I fix this without recovering my iphone 4 , I have many precious photos etc that I haven't backed up and don't want to lose

Maybe:

Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)

Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.

Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Did you fix this issue?

My guess is your home button is not dead, but stuck in "pressed" mode due to a short-circuit.

So your "connect to itunes" is the result of the button being pressed all the time.

If you take it apart, and disconnect it… maybe you can go through the process and plug it in briefly to simulate the clicks required to get where you want…or replace it by some part purchased online.

Good luck.
