First of all what disks are you trying to install? Is it a black mac OS X disk or a gray disk?
Put the disk into the drive and hold down the option key while booting. Does it display the menu and if so does it show the disk as a selectable item?

Feb 1, 2013 5:23 AM in response to matt0710by Knucklesmac,Hello,
You're disk should be fine to install. I've had this problem once before with a 12" PowerBook. For me it was a problem with the hard drive cable. There PowerBook recognized the drive, but wouldn't allow an install.
What I would suggest doing first to see if it helps, is try resetting the PMU if you haven't already done so.
If not then it sound to me like a similar problem with the hard drive flex cable.
